I was all ready for the tomorrow’s fight. It was supposed to be my last infusion of Perjeta but I just saw my doc, and he suggested that I wait another week. He doesn’t think I am up for it and said I really need to be stronger before putting my body through anything else. Billy came with me, and he agreed. At first, I was ready to duke it out. Although I know that I am totally exhausted, I was hoping to get the Perjeta over and done with. My thought was, “As long as I feel like crap, why not feel crappier?” But I guess it doesn’t work that way. So, doctor’s orders are to rest – which is pretty easy since I have no strength – and to get back in the ring next Wednesday. Once again, I’m glad to have such a great medical team, friends and family in my corner.
What’s the opposite of an appointment?
A dis-appointment?
That IS surprising, I’d assumed that once youre down on the canvas, what’s a couple more kicks to the side of the head?
They want you to wait a week to feel better before they do all they can to make you feel worse? My calendar sez this was gonna be your last bout, too. That sucks dead bears, as they say.
FWIW a family member of mine, a dear beloved soul, told me that was flabbergasted how little information she could get out of her PCPs, oncologist, aenesthesiologists and a host of other specialists as she went through mastectomys and then treatment galore. She finally gave up and started devouring stuff off of The Interwebs, which one has to admit is filled with nuts and misinformation, but she said at least she was hearing about contraindications and other stuff that indeed did come up down the pike.
What is it with medical school, does it train you that everyone is a fookin’ idiot, so whatever you do, don’t TELL THEM ANYTHING?!?
For what it’s worth, she also decided that a crucial factor was ALWAYS having an advocate by her side – so hatsoff to you for having William helping you to and through these apppointments, and dis-appointment.
